Earlier this week, I discussed the type of funding that's the best fit for your business with a quick mention about angel investors including the company Maverick Angels. Stiletto Gals, it is my pleasure to introduce to you the CEO and co-founder of Maverick Angels, Julia Dilts. Based out of Westlake Village, CA, today in our interview she gave me further insight into what the company does for entrepreneurs as well as what the "dark side" of business is - and how not to take it too personally.
Hillary Gadsby: What all does Maverick Angels do to help financially aid entrepreneurs?
Julia Dilts: I am a champion of entrepreneurs and firmly believe that they will change our world for the better. Our angel group trains, mentors and coaches early-stage companies to help increase their chances to become successfully funded and bring high returns to our investors--a win-win. Entrepreneurs are pioneers of our day, and I am passionate about being a part of that energy!
HG: What's one of the biggest, and unexpected, lessons you've learned from working in this business?
JD: A valuable lesson I learned the hard way is to not take the "dark side" of business personally. Once I realized that it is imperative to separate business from your personal life, I am able to cope much better with the challenges I face as a woman business owner. Wear your armor proudly!
HG: Tell me about your biggest shoe splurge.
JD: A pair of Chanel burgundy velvet peep-toes - LOVE!
HG: Fill in the blank: my favorite shoes are a pair of _____ because ________.
JD: A pair of Dolce & Gabbana leopard-print stilettos because they fit my personality perfectly - it's a pinch of playful with a big scoop of strong.
HG: What are three daily tips that every female entrepreneur should be able to utilize?
JD: 1). Never leave the house without your business cards.
2). Always act like a lady - we can politely debate when it's needed.
3). Be fearless!
